Political Account Coordinator

 

Job Description:

 

Shallman Communications is looking to hire a full-time, entry-level Account Coordinator to assist our team with political consulting, media development, public relations, crisis management, and public policy work. Ideal candidates are driven, passionate individuals with strong writing and communications skills who thrive in fast-paced, collaborative environments. Our firm prides itself on learning opportunities and is always on the lookout for candidates who are ready to grow and are natural problem solvers.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Draft a wide variety of communications, including press releases, policy memos, social media posts, website copy, op-eds, email blasts, and speeches
  • Act as a liaison between vendors, field teams, and campaign staff for multiple clients
  • Contribute to creative brainstorming sessions
  • Collaborate with graphic designers to create paid media and develop online branding
  • Conduct and synthesize policy research
  • Update client websites and manage social media accounts
  • Monitor news coverage and pitch earned media opportunities
  • Actively participate in team meetings and client calls
  • Manage a large email database and help coordinate the development and distribution of campaign literature (mail pieces, print ads, flyers etc.)
  • Assist in planning and staffing campaign events (meet & greets, fundraisers, photoshoots etc.)

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science, Communications, Public Policy, Urban Planning, Social Work, English, or a related field required
  • 1-3 years of experience in communications, government, fundraising, field organizing, constituent services etc. preferred
  • Based in Los Angeles or willing to relocate
  • Possesses a collaborative, “can-do” attitude
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Experience successfully juggling multiple projects under tight deadlines
  • Superior organizational skills and keen attention to detail
  • Ability to work campaign hours (weekends, evenings)
  • Spanish language fluency preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PPT) and Google Suite Products

Shallman Communications Primary Internship

 

Job Description:

 

We are looking for bright, motivated students to intern at our firm for the upcoming election cycle. Students will get the opportunity to work on high-profile campaigns from behind the scenes and will gain knowledge of the political process here in California. From research and data analysis to strategy and media, students will get hands-on experience and invaluable skills for a future political career. We are looking for students who have an interest in politics as well as strong writing skills, attention to detail, and creative minds.

This internship will be conducted two days a week from January 2022 through June 2022.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Current college student with a focus in Political Science, Communications, Public Policy, Urban Planning, Social Work, English, or a related field required
  • Interest in Democratic candidates, communications, government, fundraising, field organizing, constituent services etc. preferred
  • Possesses a collaborative, “can-do” attitude
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PPT) and Google Suite Products
